Follicular unit extraction
FUE hair transplant
Individual follicular units are taken from the back of the head with fine 0.6–1mm punches and placed into the thinning areas, under local anaesthesia. No stitches, and no linear scar.
- Local anaesthesia, out-patient
- No stitches, no linear scar
- Your own hair, relocated
How it works
What FUE is
In the FUE method, individual follicular units containing 1 to 4 hairs are extracted from the donor area at the back of the head with tiny punches between 0.6mm and 1mm in diameter. Each follicle is then placed into a recipient site in the thinning area with a fine needle instrument.
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, as an out-patient. Follicles from the back of the head are naturally resistant to the hair loss that affects the top, which is why they are used. The small openings left by extraction heal over a few days.
- 01 No stitches and no linear visible scar
- 02 Minimal blood loss, quicker donor healing
- 03 Local anaesthesia, out-patient procedure
- 04 Transplanted hair is cut and styled normally
Suitability
Who FUE may suit
A transplant needs enough healthy donor hair at the back of the head, and hair loss settled enough to plan around. The doctor assesses both before recommending it.
-
A receding hairline or thinning crown
-
Male or female pattern hair loss
-
Enough healthy donor hair to move
-
Patients who want to avoid a linear scar

RT-FUE hair transplant
Real-Time FUE: follicles are extracted and implanted at the same time, each one placed within minutes of being taken, with no storage solution in between. The technique Studio 6 performs most.

The robotic procedure follows the same principle as FUE, but the machine removes grafts one by one and assists in implanting them — less time than manual work, with roots implanted precisely over the required area.

For patchy facial hair caused by scarring, injury or genetics — follicles are placed to build an even, natural beard line.
